Changing the system: a blog series

At Collaborative Future our purpose is to create a system in which everyone is empowered to thrive. We strive to do this through working with organisations, communities and individuals to:

  • Develop meaningful connections  which drive a better understanding of their needs and values

  • Question the status quo and learn through experimentation

  • Adopt inclusive practices that rebalance power

The impact of the Corona Virus outbreak on the people and organisations we know has been varied: some are really struggling, others are benefiting but in most scenarios it’s a bit of both. What is clear though is that the problems, insecurity and inequalities that have been unearthed by this crisis are not new. These problems have existed within our society, our organisations and our relationships for some time.

Whether it’s on the macro level of the NHS being stretched and staff being overworked, the exclusion of many from the workplace due to childcare responsibilities or ongoing health conditions, or the lack of a financial security net for the millions of people without a permanent employment contract. Or even on the micro level of teams skirting around conflict and differences, or what each individual chooses to distance themselves from or overlook in their immediate relationships. For better or for worse the global situation is certainly awakening us all to the issues we need to confront if we are truly going to be able to create a better future.

This is why over the next few weeks we are going to be sharing stories from a diverse range of perspectives exploring the problems that this crisis has unearthed about our existing systems and how people are creating lasting change within themselves, their families, their communities or their organisations as a result. We hope that through sharing these revelations and exposing how real people are confronting these problems it will inspire others to take action and use this as an opportunity to work together to change the system so that everyone can thrive.

If you’ve got a story you’d like to share we’d love to hear from you. Share your ideas to tessa@collaborativefuture.co.uk. And if money, time or the need for anonymity is an obstacle to contributing please speak openly with us in case there is a way we can work with you to be able to tell your story.
